Memento Mori 2023 —

In a society where power is stronger than common sense, the past teaches us: "A laurel wreath, a symbol of glory, was placed on the head of the victorious general by the army at the moment of his acclamation as emperor. The general was then also given a similar golden wreath, shaped like a laurel wreath, to be worn during the triumph, and for this reason it was called the triumphal crown. It was held on his head by a public slave during the parade. The same slave also had the task of reciting the ritual phrase Memento Mori, meaning "remember that you must die," to remind the general that the glory of the triumph was only a fleeting moment." I hope this work will serve as a reflection on all the kinds of power this society generates.
